My daughter's little animals dried to a gorgeous stone grey and the surface was so velvety smooth that her paint didn't even need a primer coat. The softness really does make it easier for small hands to mold than other clays I've tried.
We ran out of clay mid-project and this refill bag came to the rescue – the kids were thrilled it dried to that same stone grey we loved. Painting on the velvety surface afterwards was honestly the smoothest part, no bumpy bits at all.
The clay was so soft my daughter could press details into her little bowls with just her fingers, and after it dried overnight the surface was smooth enough for her to paint right away without any sanding.
